Xcode offers the tools you need to develop, test, and distribute apps for Apple platforms, including predictive code completion, generative intelligence powered by the best coding models, advanced profiling and debugging tools, and simulators for Apple devices. It enables a unified workflow that spans from the earliest stages of app development to testing, debugging, optimization, and app distribution to testers and users. And with the Swift programming language, Xcode makes developing apps easy and fun.
Simulator enables rapid prototyping and testing of your app in a simulated environment when a real device isn't available. Instruments helps you profile and analyze your app, improve performance, and investigate system resource usage. And you can use Icon Composer to design stunning layered icons out of Liquid Glass, Reality Composer Pro to create spatial content, train custom machine learning models with Create ML, and identify potential accessibility issues with Accessibility Inspector.
To test or run applications on an Apple device, all you need is a free Apple Account. To submit your apps to the App Store, you must be a member of the Apple Developer Program. Some features may require internet access and may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.

Can you not get stuck installing every single time
Razvan_Ma
This is my 4th MacBook, newer model than the others and installing this piece of junk from the app store has failed every. single. time. Stuck installing at about 80%. Restart never helps. Feels great having to browse through libraries and other hidden folders just to be able to install this thing again.Once you get it running, it's decent at least. Got a lot of useful features, simple and good UI. Although it's rather slow and an immense resource hog, kind of like Chrome, but with ridiculously slow start-up and search(<=> build) times and very poor caching.
Important bug - Alt Click crashes
Sorin Miroiu
Hi. Whenever i'm holding Alt key and then left click on another swift file to open it in a slipt view it crashes. There aren't any steps to reproduce, since it happens on any class. Macbook pro 13 mid 2012 (manufactered in late 2015) with lastest updates.Thank you
Worst IDE

The way apple treats the iOS development comunity is sad. The ammount of MAGICAL bugs that get fixed by deleting derived data, or another weird folder, or giving your mac a restart - is insane. When the top answers on stackoverflow sound like "have you tried closing it? restarting it? deleting derived data?" - you know you have a huge problem.Build times are abysmal. Error reporting for Swift or mixed projects is a JOKE. Live views? A JOKE. Go and take a lesson from Unity's IDE.And this has gone on for YEARS. Good thing Apple came out with new M1 chips so that this piece of garbage behaves a bit better. It's sad that only way xcode performance will be improved its because of the hardware team.
Love it

A lot of hard work has been put into Xcode lately. Swift 5.1 started to look strong and it will just get better from now going forward. Congratulations to the Apple teams that made this possible. There is room for improvements like build time and autocomplete but i'm sure there is just a matter of time till those will work flawlessly
