Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits and anyone with a personal Google Account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect – inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organised.
Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect and mark assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organised.
Students can keep track of what's due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and marks from within Classroom.
With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has handed in work and mark the assignment – at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.
There are many benefits of using Classroom:
Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.
Saves time
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review and mark assignments quickly, all in one place.
Improves organisation
Students can see all of their assignments on an Assignments page, and all class materials (e.g., documents, photos and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
Enhances communication
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.
Secure
Like the rest of Google Workspace for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, and never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.

Well not sure if they will actually fix it there seems to be a bug where a classroom notification when clicked just crash rather than opening the app and the specific class
Subject: Critical UI Bug: iPadOS window controls overlap the 'X' button in document viewer
2mukund
Description of the Issue:When viewing a document (such as a PDF) within the Google Classroom app, there is a severe UI overlap issue at the top of the screen. The iPadOS multitasking window control button (the three dots / minimize, maximize, close) renders directly on top of Google Classroom’s native "X" (close) button.Because the system controls cover the app's button, it is impossible to click the "X" to close the document. This traps the user on the document screen, breaking the app's navigation and forcing the use of workarounds just to go back to the assignment page.Impact on User Experience:This severely degrades the user experience. A basic function—closing a document—becomes impossible. The app's UI is failing to respect the system's "safe area" at the top of the screen on iPads.Steps to Reproduce:1. Open the Google Classroom app on an iPad.2. Open any PDF or document attached to an assignment.3. Look at the top left corner of the screen where the "X" to close the document is located.4. Observe that the iPadOS multitasking window controls are completely blocking the "X".Suggested Fix:Please update the UI layout for the document viewer to include proper safe-area padding at the top of the screen. The app's top navigation bar needs to be shifted down or adjusted so it does not conflict with iPadOS system-level controls.Device Information:Device: iPad (11th Generation) - A16OS: iPadOS

Google Classroom currently lacks a clear notification system regarding the implications of un-submitting an assignment after the due date has passed. If a student un-submits work post-deadline—intentionally or unintentionally—the assignment status changes to "Unsubmitted," even if it was originally submitted on time. This can lead to confusion, missed evaluations, and unnecessary academic concerns. It is recommended that the platform implement a warning prompt or restrict the option to un-submit once the due date has passed to ensure clarity and fairness for students.
