My thermostat failed yesterday spilling all my coolant on the road. Luckily I was passing a turn off onto a farm track so I coasted in and pulled over. I got my AA card out and risked the number expecting a right faff as I didn’t know how to explain exactly where I was. The message prompted me to hang up and use the Ap so I did. AWESOME. !!! I opened it up. I was in my daughters car so I added the Reg no. It going it immediately and knew the make and model. It then took me to a screen which showed my exact location and asked me to briefly enter a description of the fault from a simple drop down list and that was it. Within 30 seconds it flashed up that my breakdown had been logged and took me to a tracking scheme where I could follow the expected ETA of the recovery vehicle. I got continuous updates until he arrived bang on the expected time. And he was Awesome. Introduced himself as Dan. Looked the part in a clean set of hi viz clothing and quickly determined the fault was the thermostat housing which could not be fixed at the roadside. This is a problem I thought as he had turned up in a van, but No!! He opened the back and there was an hydraulic lift/towing system and within 10 minutes he had me attached and we were on our way to my local garage. The whole exercise was 100% perfect and I honestly never bother writing these reviews but Dan himself and the entire set up was faultless from start to finish. 10/10 guys and thanks for all your help Dan. Bottom line I’ve loaded the Ap on my wife’s and both my kids phones and I’m happy that if they ever breakdown they’re in great hands. Impressive!!

Came home from a 3 week holiday to a dead car battery. My bank account includes AA breakdown cover so was absolutely relieved to know I could arrange assistance straight away. The Bank App directed me straight to the AA website where I was duly prompted to download the AA App - this is where the magic starts! With the click of a few keys on the App I had booked a home visit, I then received a call to advise someone would be with me within the hour and 10 minutes later got a call from the AA mechanic to say he would be with me in 5 minutes. Gordon arrived and was quick to diagnose the problem and was able to supply and fit a new battery on my doorstep - all this within 60 minutes of returning from holiday. Service was outstanding, efficiency was second to none and although I didn’t use the App to track Gordon’s super quick arrival it was really clear with a location map and updates as to when he would arrive. What could have been an absolute nightmare of a problem after returning from holiday was a non starter issue thanks to the AA and Gordon!! 5* service above and beyond ❤️

In order to register yourself on the app you need to provide your membership number - which is fine if you have one; however, Halifax bank customers don’t get one (and I suspect there are numerous other corporate memberships too which operate the same way) and so you cannot therefore activate the app. Surely the AA should have thought this through beforehand, but regardless, why has nobody there remedied this since it was launched? Can it be that difficult to provide individual membership numbers for customers like me? Come on AA - sort it out!!!Have now joined as a full member 2 months ago and just tried to complete my details in order to register with the app. It won't recognise my membership number or postcode ( no reason for this at all!) and says to contact the AA for help. After trawling through AA websites and finding the best number ( nothing obvious) I was finally given another number to ring for so-called App Support. They didn't " specialise" in App support and could not provide any help at all but simply told me to email the problem in. What a joke! In view of the previous issue being duly ignored I don't expect this one will get any helpful response either in which case I shall be cancelling my membership if I do not get s response to this within 48 hours. Absolutely disgusted with the poor level of service and support - basically crap!

The app is brilliant. It has been excellent when I’ve had a breakdown and all details are there when I need them until I came to update mot, insurance and service status lately. I cannot update unless I put the telephone number in of my insurance company and local garage so I have to cancel if I do not have this with me to add. I don’t really need the phone number when using the app and it is a pain to have to type it in if it’s irrelevant. Now it shows that everything has expired on my vehicles and I cannot update. Please make this so that information can be updated without the need for a telephone number. I feel it is an unnecessary addition to information on the vehicles. Dates are important not phone numbers. It makes that feature obsolete for me now as I know everything is up to date but cannot get the app to show this unless i add a phone number. Maybe it’s just me. Apart from that, it’s a great app just like the AA.
