Fun but extremely unfair

There is an XP system and getting a teammate who is extremely bad means lots of time lost, frustration and on top of that losing 90% of the XP for the effort of having a teammate that doesn’t grasp the English language or the game rules.The optimal strategy when encountering someone who doesn’t not understand English to a degree where they can play is to abandon the match.Which I see people do.Everyone is losing in those matches.It isn’t your skill as a player that wins a game, it is the random pick of who you get as a partner.This game needs a button for “illogical choice” a button to put their choice up for a jury or that just kick them out of the game if they get that vote often, then giving at least 50% of the XP without having to spend hours to complete the game.The unskilled people in this game is what ruins it and the XP system just makes it even worse.If all matches, win or loss gave the same XP, it wouldn’t be an issue.But a lost match, lasting days, with 5 rounds often give less XP than the good single round daily challenge which take few seconds to complete.

Codenames is all about word associations, and every player thinks a bit differently, some player may not be that well aware of the right rules. However, once you reach a higher level, the matchmaking system pairs you with players at a very similar level. When encountering inexperienced players, the best approach is to help guide them. There are many tutorials available (both in the app and online) that you can refer them to! We also hear your notes regarding the XP system and will keep them in mind for future tweaks.
