Now 12 months into my Speechify subscription & this app continues to be a lifesaver!

Firstly I must note that I am not at all someone to often, if at all ever write reviews for anything. However speechify has exceeded my expectations that far past any prediction or expectation I could have imagined whilst navigating a an app of this nature, especially. This app has genuinely helped offer me the most immeasurable sense of relief, saving me an abundance of time, energy and has largely taken away the frustration and mental strain that can often come with being a busy parent & managing frequent administrative tasks. This app has brought such a profound level of ease in my ability to navigate and absorb any information, whether it be personal, professional, online or on paper. And has done so in a way that I can incomparably process and understand with the features accessible through my subscription to Speechify, rather than enduring the stresses and time consuming challenges often involved with having to first find & then try to take the time, ensuring focused devotion to sit down and read anything of necessity or personal interest as I was made to do before stumbling upon this gem! Although pricey (which for me personally I would consider to be the only fault in regard to this app), I highly recommend this one!
Great app, subscriptions need to be more transparent

App works fantastically. I’m dyslexic and have ADHD so reading has always been a challenge, but as someone with a PhD who works in research I’m a gluten for punishment and have to read some of the most content heavy papers to do my work. Other text to speech apps I’ve used always convert text that isn’t relevant. The groundbreaking feature of this app really is the cropping tool which allows you to get rid of the useless text in the header, footer and in tables or figures so you get an uninterrupted reading flow. Developers could use OCR or image processing tools behind the scenes to assist with smarter cropping, and I hope this is a feature added to there product road map. One tap bulk adding of a section of text rather than having to manually adjust column borders. There are AIML and machine vision tools which would allow this. The only loss of a star is because of the subscription model. It’s clear this is a startup using something like GPT2/3 or similar. I understand that costs money. However only offering an annual fee of over $200 is expensive for a target market of students. I hope the company takes this on board and improves their cashflow options by offering monthly renewal options. At times the HD voices seem to cut out. I don’t know if this is an internet connection issue at my end or because the company doesn’t have sufficient server back end. This isn’t a show stopper and doesn’t loose a star. Currently, there are also numerous subscriptions offered within the App Store that aren’t available within the app. This seems to be a bug more than a feature and needs to be looked at. Over all a great app. I’ll definitely be recommending it. But please, offer more flexible payment terms. Hopefully this company continues to grow as this app is extremely valuable.
Amazing Study Tool! Needs improvements
Rae_chill77
Speechify had helped me elevate my study. As a busy person I convert my lecture notes to Ai and then make an educational script for myself to listen to in the car, doing house jobs or walking the dog. It really helps to passively study. It’s been awesome but for the price ($209 Aud/year), there’s a few design features and bugs that need addressing. The test feature is helpful but right now the answers are quite obvious and I feel like I can’t fully rely on the quiz to help me study fully. The app on iPhone can be really buggy, having to have your phone open on the page the whole time or it crashes. Crashing randomly or the auto play not being reliable (quite challenging on the car). I can’t sort the audio files on iPhone and it would be really helpful to drag and drop sort so I wouldn’t have to listen to a lecture series backwards or play things in random order. I wish I could edit the text on the “paste text” option so errors can be edited later (you can’t copy the text either once it’s in speechify, which makes editing errors quite inefficient too). Lastly, I would love to have a “pause” function for the transcript. It would be really helpful to listen to questions on the go and if I did that right now, it would play the question and answer back to back without allowing a pause to think. This feature would be a game changer for listening to flashcards on the go. Maybe like adding a * in the text could increase a pause of a certain time period? Overall great app and I appreciate the expansion of features but for the price I would really appreciate less bugs and more helpful features for students.

Advertisement is misleading. Free app but in app purchases

The app was okay. The web version imo was better, still suffered from many same problem as the app. I tried the free trial and the voices were pretty good, I found it slightly funny having celebrity voices read textbooks. The premium voices sound less robotic. Both free and paid struggled with reading maths, reading all footnotes, and reading the page numbers. Free voices hurt my ears, completely robotic. I tried speechify because the built in screen narration tools were sub par and robotic sounding only for the same effect, which was disappointing. I would rather have a once off purchase of an app than another subscription fee. I find most people I know dislike the subscription fee model too as when you no longer use the product you end up paying for it still as most people forget to cancel things like this. I would have given it a 4 star if it wasn’t subscription based, as it really devalues the service it provides. I avoid subscriptions unless I really love the product/service.A good feature I did like though was it reading screenshots. One textbook I had for a university class had this really poorly designed programme you would have to open to access your textbook and it had an option for it to read it aloud except the button would not actually work. I ended up screenshotting the pages I had to read for class and putting it into speechify which was way too much work but got the job done (tip: if you happen to instead get a pdf of your textbook, this works much better)
